We believe that your furry friend should be able to follow you wherever you go! Not only is your pup welcome to join us at Sandbars, but here are a few of our favorite pet-friendly activities around the area.

Cape Cod is a fantastic destination, and for many visitors, taking a trip to North Truro becomes a yearly tradition. Part of what makes this vacation so appealing is the abundance of activities available for you and your dog! Cape Cod is a pet-friendly destination, and Sandbars Inn is proud to welcome pets as well. From lounging on the beach to taking on the Cape Cod National Seashore, bring Fido on your adventure with these fun activities!

Herring Cove

Herring Cove Beach is located in Provincetown and is gorgeous. With miles of coastline, plenty of parking, and famous sunsets, Herring Cove Beach has been named one of America’s Best All-Time Beaches by Region! Of course, your dog is more than welcome at this acclaimed site; what dog doesn’t love zooming through the sand and splashing in the waves? Be sure to have a leash and plenty of drinking water for your companion, especially in the summer. And be aware: around August, this beach gets pretty crowded.

We’ve gone on about this excellent experience before, but did we mention that your pup can join you?! When you experience the drive-in, you’ll feel as though you’ve driven through a time machine to watch movies like your parents or grandparents. Since you’ll be enjoying the show from the comfort of your car, your pet can view it, too! Keep in mind that the drive-in box office is cash only! The Wellfleet Drive-In Theatre opens for the season in May.

Booksmith Musicsmith

This funky little store in Orleans, Massachusetts, is a hidden treasure. Perfect for those who love finding local and eclectic shops, this charming bookstore is “the largest, locally owned, independent book and music store on the Cape.” With creds like those, who wouldn’t want to pop in?! Be sure to check them out, and luckily for your music-loving pet, they can stop by, too.

Dog Gone Sailing Charters

Well, this one’s obvious! Dog Gone Sailing Charters offers stunning views of Cape Cod Bay and Truro and makes it well known that your furry friend is welcome, too. Dogs of all shapes and sizes are welcome aboard, and this crew even offers life vests for your pup! Hopefully, your dog has sea legs, because this is one experience you won’t want to miss.

Truro Vineyards

Wine-tasting while dog-watching. Is there anything better?! Truro Vineyards is a short drive from Sandbars Inn and is undoubtedly a local favorite. With delicious wine (all local, of course), you can sip and stroll through this spectacular New England vineyard. If you find a drink you’re particularly fond of, pick it up in the store before you leave! Your pup will enjoy a pleasant outdoor excursion, and you’ll be glad you didn’t have to leave him back in the room. Truro Vineyards offers wine tastings every half hour, so no matter when you go, you’ll have a wonderful time.

Remember to call ahead before booking your pet-friendly room at Sandbars Inn! We have a limited number available, so let us know you’re coming ahead of time, and we’ll be sure to provide you and your pup with a cozy room on Cape Cod Bay.
